update from Tron

Postby lebartron » Fri Apr 14, 2006 3:50 am

Hey mofo's

There are just too many damn things going on in here and I can't keep up so I'll just start a new topic.

We begin rehearsals soon, album sounds fresh and the Nacho Libre thing ain't happening. Feel free to send hate mail to the producers of the film (not the director). To make a long story short, and without divulging the personal details, they suck, we rule and that's that- fuck 'em.

JMJ is back in the band! Crazy to think that he helped me tremendously to get in the band and now I'm telling Beck to get him back in the posse. So he's on board, Justin Stanley from the 2nd US tour is with us, Matt Sherrod on skins, Ryan Falkner and yours truly. We have some shit up our sleeves, hopefully it will blow you away and be better than before.

I'm VERY happy to say that Jaime Lidell will be opening up for us on all or most of the US dates in May/June! I just saw him play and I'm afraid he's the reigning king of all music.

Other than that I did a remix for MoZella, an artist on Maverick Records, to come out in a couple months, a remix for The Watson Twins featuring Jenny Lewis, to come out in the next couple months hopefully and I'll be doing one for that band The Vacation soon too. Plus I'm producing this project called Otafuku Rex. Check http://www.myspace.com/otafukurex
It's a Guerillaz type venture.

Been reading a lot of John Fante and abusing emusic.com as well. Hope all is well with you and yours and hopefully I'll see some of you out on tour!

Best,
Brian LeBarton

tron,

thanks for the update. im glad jmj is back and even touring. he dropped in over at stewoo's and said he was in the studio with you guys, but he didnt mention that he would be sticking around, so that is good to hear.

the nacho libre deal blows. the score would have been so tight and in a completely different vein of things for you guys.....plus i was hoping for some beck and tenacious d "duet" madness on the soundtrack, but oh well. i am guessing there was some stuff already recorded for this since the film is supposed to be out this summer (and i could be wrong), but if there is, do you think any of it will ever be release? maybe as beck.com music? just wondering if you had any insight into it.

if rehearsals have begun, does that mean that the studio recording is finished? or it is just getting shelved for a while to prepare for the tour?

thanks for the info, we always appreciate it when you drop in and i hope to see you guys on tour (aka a missouri-kansas area tour date would be greatly appreciated if you have any input in that and its not just left to beck, nastylittleman, interscope)

take it easy

Had to jump in and cease the rumour I started. Nacho Libre was cancelled, dumped, in the gutter. But apparently the bastards came crawling back and they're using our super fresh dope fucking awesome music for the film. Peace.

Two things on your news, Tron: yay! and how strange.... "Crawling back" indeed!

Is there any chance the music will be released in album form? I really dig the little piece from the trailer.

I heard a commercial for Nacho Libre on the Radio today. They were playing epro during it.

So, it's going to be all new Beck songs for this thing, right?

I don't know....I'm confused about this. I'm not sure exactly what Beck is doing. Maybe a few new songs? But then, why do they play E-Pro in the trailer? Maybe cos the new songs weren't final yet? Questions... :smt102
